MANAGED DEX ENGINE / MANAGED INFRASTRUCTURE

Managed Dex servers for your applications.

Run your Dex applications on managed infrastructure while your Workers stay in your environment.

EXAMPLE / CONNECT TO A DEX SERVER TLS + API KEY
worker.go
flowServiceAddress := "orders.acme.dex.superdurable.io:443"

client, err := dex.NewClient(registry, cache, dex.ClientOptions{
    FlowServiceAddress: flowServiceAddress,
    WorkerTarget:       &workerTarget,
    Credential:         credential,
})
if err != nil {
    return nil, err
}
Your application connects to its managed Dex server; the durable engine stays managed by the platform.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

Your code stays in your environment.

Clients and Workers connect to their managed Dex server. The platform configures and operates the infrastructure behind that server.

Managed Dex Engine architectureApplication clients and Dex Workers connect over TLS through the Edge gateway to managed Dex servers. Dex Workers initiate an outbound pull stream through the gateway. Managed Dex servers use an internal durable engine and persistence, neither of which has a public endpoint. The gateway can route to an optional dedicated Dex server cluster. Dashed lines from the control plane show configuration; solid lines show requests or streams.YOUR ENVIRONMENTAny cloud, VPC or on-premApplication / API clientsStart and inspect executionsDex WorkersPull mode · your networkCONNECTION BOUNDARYTLS · API KEYSOUTBOUND ONLYOUTBOUND STREAM / PULL ①MANAGED DEX ENGINECONTROL PLANE ④Console & APIDex server configuration · API keys · rate limits · dedicated clustersDATA PLANE / SHARED CLUSTEREdgeTLS · authDex APIDex servers ②One per applicationorders serverbilling serverDurable engineManaged internallyNo public endpointPersistenceExecutionstoreVisibilitystoreDedicated Dex server cluster (optional) ③Isolated managed Dex servers and persistence · one organization · same edge━━ SOLID = REQUEST / STREAM┄┄ DASHED = CONFIGURATION FROM CONTROL PLANE
  1. 01
    Outbound Workers

    Dex Workers open a long-lived outbound stream through the edge gateway to their server. No inbound ports are required in your network.

  2. 02
    Application boundary

    Each Dex application connects to its own managed Dex server through a stable Dex endpoint.

  3. 03
    Isolation choice

    Shared clusters host managed Dex servers by default. A dedicated Dex server cluster is available for organizations that need isolation.

  4. 04
    Platform operated

    The control plane manages server configuration and lifecycle; the platform runs upgrades, capacity, monitoring and the durable engine behind each server.

MANAGED DEX SERVERS

Everything your Dex application needs to run.

Managed Dex Engine gives each application its own managed Dex server while keeping the durable engine internal to the platform.

CLUSTER OPTIONS

Shared by default. Dedicated when approved.

Managed Dex servers run on a shared cluster or on an isolated cluster for your organization.

SECURITY & ACCESS

Explicit boundaries for every workload.

01

TLS on every connection

Clients and Workers connect to cloud endpoints over TLS.

02

Scoped API keys

Each key is scoped to one Dex server, has an expiry, and can be revoked.

03

Outbound Worker connections

Dex Workers initiate a long-lived pull stream; your network needs no inbound Worker ports.

04

Platform-managed lifecycle

The platform manages the Dex server lifecycle and durable engine behind it.

05

Dedicated isolation

An approved dedicated cluster has its own databases for one organization.

FAQ

Common questions.

What does Managed Dex Engine manage?

Managed Dex Engine operates your Dex server, the durable engine behind it, platform upgrades, capacity and monitoring.

How do I connect my application?

Use the Dex SDK to connect your application and Workers to the managed Dex server endpoint issued for your application.

Where do my Workers run?

You run Workers in any cloud, VPC or on-prem network. Dex Workers connect outbound to their Dex server in pull mode.

How do I raise my rate limit?

Request a higher per-server limit; a platform admin approves requests on shared clusters. Dedicated-cluster organizations manage limits within their cluster size.

Can I run it in my own cloud?

See Bring Your Own Cloud for the self-hosted deployment option.

BUILD ON MANAGED DEX ENGINE

Start with a managed Dex server. Run your code where it belongs.

Build with Flows, Steps and application-level execution, then connect your application with the Dex SDK.
